Regional cooperation development

The week commenced with a meeting between the newly appointed director of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Institute for Standardization (ISBIH), Mr. Aleksandar Todorović, and his deputy, Mr. Borislav Kraljević. Alongside representatives of ISS's top management, they convened on Monday to deliberate on the continuation and advancement of the fruitful collaboration between the two standardization bodies. This high-level engagement underscores the unwavering commitment of both ISS and ISBIH to fostering a partnership that promotes standardization excellence across the region.

The existing Cooperation Agreement between ISS and ISBIH, coupled with their long-standing ties, geographical proximity, and lack of language barriers, presents a wealth of opportunities for joint endeavors. Moreover, the similarities in the economic systems and business environments of both countries facilitate the exchange of valuable insights into market needs for standardization.

The Institute for Standardization of Serbia (ISS) and the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ISBIH) have streamlined the process of accessing national standards for both countries. Users in Bosnia and Herzegovina can readily obtain BAS standards from ISS, while those in Serbia can effortlessly access SRPS standards through ISBIH. This seamless exchange of standards is particularly beneficial when European or international standards have been adopted in the Serbian or Bosnian language. Since BAS and SRPS standards are harmonized with EN, ISO, and IEC standards, their content is identical, making it significantly easier for users to understand the requirements without relying on translations from English.

This initiative exemplifies the ongoing collaboration between ISS and ISBIH to promote standardization excellence and foster a more harmonized regulatory environment across the region. By facilitating easy access to national standards, both organizations are empowering businesses and industries to operate more efficiently and effectively.
