situation in which an interested party has personal interest or organizational interest, directly or indirectly, that can compromise, or interfere with, the ability to act impartially in carrying out their duties in the best interest of the organization Note 1 to entry: There can be different types of personal interests: business, financial, family, professional, religious or political. Note 2 to entry: Organizational interest relates to the interests of an organization or part of an organization (e.g. team or department) rather than an individual.
